I have moisture ingressing into my fire door, what is the best solution?

If you’re experiencing moisture ingress into an internal timber fire door, it’s important to address it promptly. Moisture can cause the door to swell, warp, delaminate, or rot—compromising its fire rating and performance. Moisture issues in internal settings are often caused by high humidity, poor ventilation, or water ingress from wet areas. For example bathrooms, kitchens, or plant rooms. To mitigate the issue, ensure the door is properly sealed on all six sides with a moisture-resistant paint or coating. Check that any penetrations for hardware is correctly sealed. Installing or upgrading to fire-rated perimeter seals can also help reduce moisture migration into the core. If the door has already sustained damage or shows signs of warp, it may need to be replaced to ensure it continues to meet NZS 4520:2010.
